1972 Using a superior synthetic like Amsoil is cheaper than convention oil. You are doing 5 oil changes with a leading synthetic or conventional /with Amsoil your doing 1 so thats about 4 times less.

Yes it is because for you S2k it burns oil with a redline of 9k... Synthetic Oils have a higher flash point which means less burning of Oil
Here's the deal, Syntheic oil has smaller particles, with engines that have very close moving parts(My 2004 Rendezvous) synthetic is better for a few reasons. One, Royal Purple(RP),the first run will clean the walls of the engine, thus the first change of synthetic will be much darker than usual due to the toxins coming out. Second, synthetic reduces/carrys heat away from the engine much better than traditional engine oil. Keeping your engine temp at a lower and safer degree. If you are going to use Synthetic oil, it is advised to upgrade your oil filter and also have a induction system cleaning done. Runs about $150. Use BG products for cooling system, transmission flush, brake fluid flush..etc..BG gives lifetime warranty if these are performed every 30,000 miles using BG product. Also, good idea to have a conditioner put in the oil with an MOA - Good luck
Keep using the synthetic especially since that engine loves to spin. Synthetic costs twice as much per quart but lasts twice as long. Unless you are leaking lots of oil, using synthetic costs the same as conventional. No it wont mess up so long as you use the same factory reccomended viscosity weight of oil.
But why run conventional oil........it's crud pumped right out of the ground.
It leaves nasty deposits and sludge in the engine after long periods of use........synthetic dose not........In fact .......it will wash the sludge out naturally.
synthetic is much more slippery then conventional too.
It's so slick.........you cannot ';break in'; and engine motor running it.
It wont allow the piston rings to seat to the cylinder walls.
Thats the only time I EVER run conventional oil in my engines.
The rest of their lives get noting but Synthetic.

Once you use synthetic you are not supposed to go back to conventional oil unless you flush the system... conventional and synthetic dont mix. Using regular oil and changing it every 2-3k miles will work just as well as using synthetic and changing it every 5k
