Can it harm an engine if switching from Semi-synthetic oil?

back to conventional oil?Can it harm an engine if switching from Semi-synthetic oil?
Conventional petroleum and synthetic oils are totally compatible and you can mix them in whatever proportions you want. A semi-synthetic or synthetic blend is just that. A mix of conventional and synthetic oils. http://www.mobiloil.comCan it harm an engine if switching from Semi-synthetic oil?
Bobweb is completely correct, synthetic oil and conventional oil are compatible with each other, hence, synthetic blend... Synthetic oil is created from a base of conventional oil. The weight of the oil is all you need to be concerned with, even brands can be mixed - branding is about marketing, not engineering. Synthetic oils are 'cleaner' than conventional oils, not as much friction. Use whatever oil you want, it is your car, just maintain it regularly...

BTW - butters, hopefully your training will include some extensive lubricant education...
';Conventional petroleum and synthetic oils are totally compatible and you can mix them in whatever proportions you want'; That guy doesn't know what the hell hes talking about...can you switch from a semi synthetic to conventional? well since it is not a fully synthetic oil you should probably be ok...just make sure you change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles and don't buy into advertising telling you otherwise...
Go ahead. I once bought a Toyota that had been run on synthetic (Mobile 1) and only changed every 20,000 miles. I switched it back to regular motor oil and the timing chain immediately started to make some noise. The synthetic had been masking the noise; the wear was still there. I drove it for many miles that way.
No not at all.... typically, Synthetic oil is of a higher grade but it wont matter going to the basic oil.
HELL YES
