When should you change to synthetic oil?

should you start using synthetic oil after 300,000 miles on your car? also if you use synthetic oil, do you still have to change oil every 3,000 miles? When should you change to synthetic oil?
If you've gotten to 300,000 miles using natural oil, keep using natural oil. It's obviously working.

If you wanted to switch to synthetic, doing it earlier would have been better. Differences in the oils could lead to deposits on seals dissolving, or old seals failing to cope with the changes 7in chemistry. Basically changing to synthetic (or back) could cause a slow leak to become a fast one, or leaks to form where things had already been getting weak.

Oh, and you don't need to change your oil every 3000 miles. That's just a self-serving recommendation of oil-change places. The Car Talk guys recommend 5000 miles. Synthetics can generally go a bit longer than natural oil. But it varies by what car you drive, and how you drive it.When should you change to synthetic oil?
you can change to synthetic anytime you want. I use synthetic from day 1 on all my vehicles and have excellent success with my vehicles. I change the oil every 5000 miles and use a high quality filter designed to trap smaller particles. The following is some of my past vehicle mileages; Toyota-400,000 miles; Buick-385,000 miles; dodge caravan-316,000 miles; ford ranger 370,000 miles. Of the current 4 vehicles I have right now 2 of them are already over 150,000 miles and have no problems.
Use it, Only time I wouldn't recommend Synthetic oil is during engine break-in period. I build engines and the rings don't seat properly with synthetic. After that its all good, Just remember though that not all synthetics are what you think they are. Depends on the grade the pil comes from: Amsoil comes from

some motors you can't go to synthetic ,you need certain clearances, synthetics allow you longer time between changes
Congrats on the 300,000 mile milestone!

I second the Amsoil recommendation--
