Should I put synthetic oil and tranny fluid in my car?

I have an 89 prelude with just under 65000 miles. What would synthetic fluids do for my car? What kind should I put in it?Should I put synthetic oil and tranny fluid in my car?
synthetics is always better if you don't mind the extra costs involved you also can extent your change intervals you may still need to swap the filter between changesShould I put synthetic oil and tranny fluid in my car?
From what I've heard it's not good to use synthetic oils or transmission fluids in old vehicles. Many bec it's oil seals and do to them being old they could end up leaking.

On the age of vehicle I'd highly recommend that don't use synthetics but instead change the oil and filter every 2,500 kms and change the transmission fluid and filter.

That's amazing how low the mileage is on that vehicle , plus I suggest you do regular tune ups of the ignition system and electrical charging system once a yr before winter. If you've never changed the transmission filter and fluid do that but make sure you use the manufactures transmission filter kit and recommended fluid, plus change it again every 50,000.

That aged vehicle probably needs the electrical charging system's circuit over hauled and that could be part of the problem you're having now. You'll need to check, for corrusion or rust and maybe clean the system with fine sandpaper , small wire brushes the battery, starter, alternator posts, connections and connectors, plus the engine block ground, clean or replace any and all ground wires, plus use new screws etc in connecting the grounds ,and create new ground wires or ground connections when their too rusty etc to remove. If you want to spend the time it's well worth it to take out the relays , and fuses with the battery disconnected and clean their connectors, especially any fuses etc located under the hood. Plus clean , re-gap or change the spark plugs , clean the connectors inside the spark plug wires with a flat head small screwdriver, just be careful not to scrape the wire itself inside the connectors and be sure to clean the ignition coil connectors too.

Don't even worry about any old grounds if you made up new ones as long as their not in the way and you've it done right.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way it might not be a bad idea to pick up a service manual for that vehicle.
An automobile that old and especially if it has high milage it wouldnt be a good idea to run synthetic oil or tranny fuid in it. Synthetic oil has a habit of breaking sludge loose and plugging up lifters and other engine components so no its not a good idea. Personally i have known of cases where it actually did considerable damage and actually blew up the engine, hope that helps you.
any kind of the same wt oil ....synthetic oil breaks down slower and provides a better protection so yes it will help save the life of your motor 65000 is nothing
