Why does synthetic oil always cost more than regular oil?

Why does the cost of synthetic oil rise to stay more expensive than regular oil. I would think that when oil prices increase, synthetic oil products would be cheaper. Any insight on this matter? Why does synthetic oil always cost more than regular oil?
It takes oil to create synthetic oil. When the price of the feed stock goes up, so does the product.

just like ethanol and bio-diesel.Why does synthetic oil always cost more than regular oil?
It's because synthetic oil has more additives that clean your motor better. You can put synthetic oil in any car, any motor.
