Conventional oil is usually purchased by these shops in bulk (50-gallon drums) while the synthetic is purchased by the case (12 1-quart bottles). This makes the conventional oil considerably cheaper to the shop per quart than the synthetic, even though the price you see on the internet makes them seem almost the same. They account for this difference by adjusting the price of the oil change.Why is there a huge difference from a regular oil change to synthetic oil change? $35 compare to $75?

at 3000 miles with regular oil
to 7500-9000 miles with synthetic
in the long run it costs about the same per year
They protect better, offer better gas mileage, and the oil change interval is longer than standard conventional oil.

bmw oil is actually a great oil , its not like the 6 $ synthetic at pep boys
( and not using bmw oil can void any warranty with bmw )
i use royal purple in my honda fit ( yes expensive oil in a cheap car ) and i feel its worth it ( my car actually gets rev-ed to 5500 rpms a lot ) it helps with throttle response, cooling, and mpgdon'tdont think it makes a difference in a lot of cars but cars that get rev-ed up and pushed hard it will make a drifference though out the life of the car.

synthetic oil is man made oil, it last longer (more expensive)
ita a bmw with warrantie
half an hour for a tech plus materials 75 is just right
plus its garanted
try a vw, bentley or merceds, none are less than a hundred
syn is more money/dont change until 7500 more miles and then re-do with the syn/engines last longer/been using it for 20 years/03 focus w/216k on it and it sees warp drive every day/syn oil in nj is almost 6 bucks a qt
