I was running mobil 1 full synthetic oil in my 2000 ford taurus, i want to go to a synthetic blend to cut down

on my oil change expenses. The guy at a local auto parts store actually recommended switching from synthetic to synthetic blend. Mileage is about 120000. Is it ok to switch to this?I was running mobil 1 full synthetic oil in my 2000 ford taurus, i want to go to a synthetic blend to cut down
How about changing the oil filter every 3-5K miles? Then just add a quart of Mobil ! and go with that. Co-worker had a small truck with over 240K miles and it still sounded like a new engine. There was no valve clatter or any piston slap. So it must work.

good luck with it.I was running mobil 1 full synthetic oil in my 2000 ford taurus, i want to go to a synthetic blend to cut down
Yes you can, but then you will have to change more often then before, reg oil you change every 3000, blend about 5000 and wit the full syn it's every 7000 so you see it up to you, always remember you get what you pay for. If you change when youre suppose to, it really dont matter what you use. and you can make your own blend, just buy some full syn, and some reg oil and just mix them yourself. Just find them on sale and it really don't matter the brand, good luck.
You can go a lot longer with full synthetic. With a blend you have to change oil as often as you do with regular oil. So you won't be saving money.

Synthetic is not like ';regular oil'; It's not even petroleum. They build it from scratch, and it has much longer molecular chains, so it protects your engine much better. And it doesn't break down into gunk like petroleum oil does.
Synthetic is just motor oil, just more pure.

There's no reason to be worried about switching back and forth.

You can read much more about synthetic in Valvoline and Mobil1 website. But basically it says the first sentence above.

good Luck...
It's OK to switch down from full synthetic to syn blend or even conventional oil, it's when u have been using regular oil for a long time and switch to synthetic is when u might have problems.
dont use synthetic oil unless instructed by owners manual in car. all it does is cost more. switch should br OK!
