Synthetic oil?

I have a F-150 ford 4.2 liter that has 145000 miles. I have used regular motor oil since new (no problems). Would it hurt to go to synthetic oil my next change or stick with what I have been using?Synthetic oil?
but it won't helpSynthetic oil?
I'm sure it's OK, but like we used to say';if it works, don't fix it';.
once you go synthetic you can't go back. Synthetic is more expensive. I would stay with regular, maybe find a regular that fits you truck better. For example, my car is high mileage so i use the high mileage oil.
With Amsoil synthetic you can go 25,000 miles/1 year (15,000 miles/1 year severe service): http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=14鈥?/a>

Type in your year, make, model, and engine in the 'Amsoil Online Product Guide' at http://www.number1synthetic.com

to get a custom list of Amsoil lubes and filters for your vehicle. Good luck!
I would not go to synthetic. It is not worth the money.
i have a 3.8 with 170000 mile and i was getting a little click in it what i did was use pensoil and lucas oil treatment it works real good. that or put some mystery oil. its like an addative. but the synthetic would be just as good. try that the main thing is to change your oil regularly.
Synthetic oil is supposed to give you 5000 to 6000 miles between oil changes. They don't break down as readily as regular oils do. But they are more expensive.

I've switched back and forth between sythetic and regular oil without problems. My 1994 Honda Accord now has 253,000 miles on it.

Look in your owner's manual to see how long you can go between oil changes. Make sure you get an oil filter specifically designed for your vehicle or see what your local Ford dealer recommends you use.
With that many miles... on some vehicles.. the 'more' detergent synthetic oil, may scavenge a lot of crud from the engine..even out of the oil pan. This stuff tends to get lodged on the top of the heads (valve train) and dams the drain holes that allows the oil to run back into the pan...If it is going to happen.. it will be in the first 2-10 minuets after the change.. Oil light will come on.. because all the oil is in the rocker covers.. you can hear it draining back to the pan.. but you'll have the cleanest engine in town....Adding a can of cleaner just before the change should help.
it won't hurt it
it will not hurt but at this mileage keeping a regime of regular petroleum oil changes is just fine
Go with High-Mileage oil.
