What's going on when antifreeze is leaking into synthetic oil?

A friend's 1996 Dodge Ram pickup recently starting having this problem. Apparently is getting better gas mileage due to the sealing ability of the synthetic oil, so he claims.

What would some of you certified mechanics recommend? What kind of money are we talking? How long can he wait to have the repair done? What's going on when antifreeze is leaking into synthetic oil?
It is most likely your head gasket but it could also be an intake manifold gasket. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL, YOU WILL BE REBUILDING OR REPLACING THE ENGINE IF YOU DO. with water in the oil the bearings will not get properly lubricated, and the engine will sieze. What's going on when antifreeze is leaking into synthetic oil?
I recommend you get it to a garage and get the head gasket replaced it sounds like its leaking that way . I was having the same trouble with my dodge pickup and it was the head gasket. for the price I dont know what to tell you it all depends on the mechanic rates.
It is an internal coolant leak. Either at the heads or intake manifold. Possibly at the timing cover if the water pump is in the cover.

This has the potential to be very expensive and it has to be fixed for yesterday, if you want to keep a lid on the cost.
Most common cause is bad intake gaskets. Cracked block or head is very unlikely but it can happen. Like said above stop driving it and get it fixed. Antifreeze in the oil is very bad. doesnt take long to ruin the rod and main bearings!
ANY coolant contamination of the oil is a serious problem. Whatever the cause of the contamination, the engine should not be run until the problem is corrected and the oil is changed.
Could either be the intake manifold or a head gasket. I wouldn't drive it because the antifreeze can damage the bearings in the block. That will cost even more to fix if not a whole new engine.
Head gaskets or water jackets. Its an engine rebuild, and can get pretty pricey. I would strongly recommend taking it in ASAP. if left unchecked, it can completely ruin the engine.
What credit company financed their truck, maybe they sold them a service contract that may or may not help them.

Synthetic oil has nothing to do with oil getting to it.
could be a intake leak also pulling antifreeze from the intake to the combustion chamber.
Its NOT looking good my friend sounds like a cracked block or head......get it checked out ASAP
