I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu and am thinking about changing it for my next oil change. Is Synthetic oil better for the environment than regular oil? I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu?
that's probably the best thing you could ever do for that car is change it to synthetic oil,it will help the engine to last a lot longer and also make it get a little better mileage, and it doesn't have to be changed as often as other oils do,i use synthetic oil in all my cars,i only use Mobil one brand though, but it does really good,it wont hurt anything only help it,good luck with it.Is Synthetic oil better for the environment than regular oil? Run Shell Rotella-T, 15W40 unless you're in a really cold climate. It has better lubricity than synthetics. Hot Rod magazine did a multi-page article about oils, particularly as they relate to camshaft wear, a few months back. Basically car oil is getting worse, due to emission requirements on new cars, diesel oil is still carrying the max amount of what provides lubrication, which is what all, especially used %26amp; older, cars need.

i'm with herb s. i use rotella t in my semi tractor...and put it in my pickup and wifes car...would not go to a synthetic on that old of a car.....trust us
Synthetic oil is the best all around, for your car and the environment. Regular oil breaks down sooner and creates vapors from deterioration that normally are picked up by the PCV system. These vapors are harmful to the environment, even if they are burned. Better synthetic oils create little to no vapors due to their inherent better manufacturing processes. They don't leave sludge or varnish or wax deposits behind like regular oils do..Also, because the drain intervals are longer, there is less waste. Your cars engine will like you more, too.
a synthetic oil spill will be just as bad as a regular oil spill, but for your car syn.[i tkink] is a better oil. it pours better at 50 c.[i no that becasue i did a oil change with both outside]
As long as you re-cycle the old oil it doesn't matter, it will just cost you more.
yes in the fact that it will require less oil changes. no in the fact that they are chemically similar. all oil should be recycled also...
Yes it is, especially if you take advantage of extended drain intervals, much less waste oil. Also better fuel economy due to lowered friction. The lower volatility (oil burn-off) means less oil is burned, meaning lower emissions.
